STEP UP -

Sustainability skills entrepreneurial mind set to foster migrant women employability and upskilling possibilities

The STEP UP project aims to facilitate migrant women's access to further education measures and to empower them to take advantage of these measures.  Concepts and methods are developed so that social workers, volunteers and counsellors can apply them in their work with women with refugee and migration experience.

The Project (English)

The EU report "Gaps in the EU Labour Market Participation Rates - an intersectional assessment of the role of gender and migrant" showed that more approaches are needed to promote the labour market participation of all women, both without and with refugee and migration experience.

Promoting women's education is one of the most important measures against gender inequality in the labour market.

STEP UP therefore wants the participants to actively participate in different workshops in order to deal with their personal development.

Here, the focus is primarily on strengthening self-confidence. Furthermore, skills such as communication and teamwork as well as IT skills will be improved in order to increase the women's chances on the labour market.

Current status: After the project officially started on 31.05.2022, the project partners met in Sweden on 16.10.2022 for the first kick-off meeting. There, the first work steps were discussed, tasks were distributed and, of course, everyone got to know each other. In January 2023, the partners met again for a second face-to-face meeting in Torino, Italy. Already after the first meeting, all participants started planning, designing, and elaborating an "Educator Manual". The manual is intended to support teachers and other educational professionals when they guide young migrant women on their way to professional independence. Among other things, a survey with relevant professionals was conducted for this purpose. These came from vocational schools, NGOs and other social institutions.

31.08.2023: All chapters for the manual were written and revised. The individual chapters of the partners were merged. Currently, the design is being finalised. The next meeting will take place in October in Ankara, Turkey.
