Tugce, 4 Wochen Europapraktikum in einem Reisebüro auf Malta (Englisch)

Week1

Day 1: Welcome Meeting at the Benz Garage -Talking about all rules and getting lots of information about Malta.

Day 2: On the first day of my internship, I got to know everyone at the company, and they told me a lot about the business and what they offer. I have now received all the access data I need to start working. I’ve also looked at all the websites and Instagram pages.

Day 3: During my internship, I was responsible for planning a group tour to Turin and Alba. My tasks included researching flight options, organizing airport transfers, and finding suitable hotels for the group. I also looked into possible activities and guided tours in both cities. This experience helped me understand how much organization and attention to detail is needed when planning group travel. I improved my research skills, learned to compare prices and schedules, and gained insight into the tourism and travel industry.

Day 4: Today, I completed all the museum reservations for the group. I contacted the museums, checked availability, and ensured that the bookings were made according to the group size and schedule. This required clear communication in English and attention to detail to avoid mistakes.

Day 5: I worked on creating a brochure for the "Tour Piemonte" project. I designed the layout, added relevant content, and selected suitable images to visually represent the region. To enhance the brochure, I searched for and downloaded high-quality, copyright-free photos from the Internet that matched the theme and locations of the tour. This task helped me to improve my skills in visual design, research, and content organization.

Week 2

Day 1: I worked together with a colleague who showed me how to handle travel inquiries. Under her guidance, I learned how to process customer requests and how to search for suitable travel options. This included finding appropriate flights and hotels that matched the clients' preferences and needs. It was a valuable experience that helped me better understand the workflow and customer service aspect of the travel industry.

Day 2: I performed several administrative tasks. I started by checking and organizing incoming e-mails to ensure timely responses and proper documentation. Additionally, I answered phone calls and forwarded them to the appropriate departments or colleagues. One of my main tasks was researching hotels in Bodrum and Antalya. I gathered information on various accommodations, including prices, locations, and amenities, to support upcoming travel planning. Overall, it was a productive day that helped me improve my communication and organizational skills.

Day 3: I worked on creating content for the company’s social media accounts. I used Canva to design several posts, focusing on both visual appeal and clear messaging. This task helped me improve my design skills and better understand how to communicate effectively through social media.

Day 4: Today, I sent e-mails, answered phone calls, and forwarded them to the right contacts. I also listened to a travel consultation, which helped me learn more about customer service. These tasks helped me improve my communication skills and better understand office workflows.

Day 5: I supported my colleague in finalizing a winter trip to Zakopane, Poland. I helped her by researching suitable flight options and selecting several hotels in the area. It was a great opportunity to contribute actively to the planning process and improve my skills in travel coordination.

Week 3

Day 1: Today, I researched a short Christmas trip to Munich. I explored and compared options for hotels, flights, and local guides. I also compiled a selection of recommended restaurants, cafés, and tourist attractions that should be visited during the trip. This task helped me strengthen my skills in planning, evaluating offers, and organizing travel-related information – all of which are relevant in office and administrative roles.

Day 2: I conducted research for a short Christmas trip to Vienna. I gathered and compared options for hotels, flights, and local guides. Additionally, I created a list of recommended restaurants, cafés, and sights worth visiting, including cultural landmarks and seasonal attractions. This planning process helped me practice organizational and analytical skills, which are valuable in both travel management and office coordination.

Day 3: I searched for a hotel offer in Antalya for two adults and three children. The package also included flights and entry to the Land of Legends Theme Park. Additionally, I answered phone calls and forwarded them to the appropriate departments.

Day 4: During my internship, I researched yoga group travel options. I explored different countries and compared offers based on location, program type, and travel conditions. This helped me understand the wellness travel market and how such trips are organized.

Day 5: I had the day off due to Malta’s national holiday “Santa Marija” (Feast of the Assumption of Our Lady). This is one of the most important religious and cultural celebrations in Malta, marked by vibrant village feasts, processions, and fireworks across the island. It is also a public holiday, giving many employees a well-deserved summer break. On the public holiday, I received a task to write a self-reflection. I worked from home to complete it. This allowed me to think about my learning progress and experiences during the internship.

Week 4

Day 1: I continued the task from last Thursday. I focused on researching prices for yoga group trips and identifying specific hotels that could be suitable for such retreats. This helps narrow down the options and compare packages more effectively.

Day 2: Today I joined a customer consultation and learned how bookings and payments are handled. I also researched different travel options and documented all key details to support planning. Loving the hands-on experience and learning something new every day!

Day 3: I continued researching travel options, including hotels, tours, and pricing. I focused on finding flexible and customizable experiences. Because there are many options, I didn’t include fixed prices. I also looked into transfers, restaurants, cafés, and important travel tips.

Day 4: On my last day, I had a feedback meeting with the team where we talked about my experience during the internship. I was asked how the internship helped me and what I learned from it. I shared my thoughts and gave positive feedback about the tasks and support I received. I also sent all the travel and tour information I had researched to my colleague, including hotel options, prices, and other useful details.

Day 5: Closing Meeting at the Benz Garage. Today we had our final feedback session, where we reflected on our internship experience in Malta. We shared what went well, what we learned, and also discussed ideas for improvement. It was a great opportunity to wrap up this journey and give constructive input!

Self-Reflection: My internship has changed me in many ways, especially in terms of communication and self-confidence. It has made me more confident in speaking English and has shown me that effective communication is possible, even when it is not in your native language. However, the first week was a big challenge for me. It felt unusual to express myself entirely in English, and there were moments when I was unsure if my message was fully understood during misunderstandings. Over time, I learned to handle these situations more calmly. I realized that making mistakes is not a problem as long as you keep speaking. Most people understand what you want to say and are willing to help if you forget a word. This understanding has significantly strengthened my self-confidence. I have learned that I have more perseverance than I thought. In the beginning, I was unsure whether I could work and communicate effectively in a foreign language. Now, I know that I can adapt quickly to new linguistic and cultural environments. A new strength I discovered is my ability to stay calm in stressful communication situations and to find creative ways to express myself when I cannot find the right words. I also noticed that I am more open to approaching people and more proactive in asking questions to avoid misunderstandings. I now approach challenges in a more strategic way: I take a moment to organize my thoughts before speaking and use all available tools—whether body language, synonyms, or simple explanations. This has made me feel more secure and independent. Overall, this internship has not only improved my language skills but also contributed to my personal growth. I have gained greater trust in my own abilities and now know that I can succeed even in unfamiliar situations.

Cultural Insights: During My Internship in Malta During my internship in Malta, I had the opportunity to learn a lot about the country’s rich culture and fascinating history. I visited many important landmarks and historical sites that taught me not only about Malta’s past, but also helped me reflect on my own personal and professional development. Exploring places like Mdina, Valletta, the Hypogeum, and the Three Cities gave me a deeper understanding of Malta’s unique blend of Mediterranean and European influences. These experiences enriched my time abroad and made my internship truly unforgettable. Overall, I can highly recommend this kind of experience to anyone who wants to improve their language skills, become more confident, and discover a new work culture and way of life. It’s a wonderful opportunity to grow both personally and professionally. A heartfelt thank you to the team at KulturLife for making this experience possible
